Early Childhood Developmental Domains
The Five Domains
Adaptive: Self-help skills (toileting, dressing, handwashing, etc), following simple routines.
Cognitive Learning: Shows curiosity, interest in books, pointing out one's own name, interest in counting and letters.
Communication: Expressive Language-Using words to communicate (vocabulary, using sentences, sharing information about themselves). Receptive Language understanding spoken language (following direction to that include basic concepts). Speech Sound Development Errors with speech sounds OR overall, speech is hard to understand. And/or Fluency- Stuttering or very rapid speech.
Motor: Fine Motor-Use of art tools, grasp development, fasteners/zippers/containers
Gross Motor-Balance, playground navigation, strength.
Social Emotional: Expressing emotions and feelings, Relating to peers/adults, using play to build relationships.

Concerns About My Preschooler's Development
If you have questions or concerns about a preschool child’s development we can connect you with an Early Childhood Special Educator (ECSE). By filling out the MMUUSD Request for Developmental Consult For My Preschooler. Our ECSE can gather background information that will help as they connect with you/your child’s team to provide options for support. If you would prefer to complete a paper form, that can be located HERE. Once a paper form is completed it can be submitted to: 10 River Road, Jericho, VT 05465 or [email protected]. If you need help filling out the form call (802) 434-2128. It is important that if you are not the parent/guardian that you have consent from the parent/guardian to reach out to our school team.
What Happens After I Fill Out The Developmental Consult Form?
Once our ECSE Team has received your form they will reach out to you within 5 school days and will collaborate with you to review options and determine next steps.
